We created this season and the different celebrations with it in order to remind us of who we were are. All around the world, various cultures are celebrating some festival or holiday:
- Saint Nicholas Day (Christian)
- Fiesta of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Mexican)
- Lucia Day (Swedish)
- Hanukkah (Jewish)
- Christmas Day (Christian)
- Three Kings Day/Epiphany (Christian)
- Boxing Day (Australian, Canadian, English, Irish)
- Kwanzaa (African American)
- Omisoka (Japanese)
- Yule (Pagan)
- Saturnalia (Pagan)
These holidays are all about celebrating values and higher principles. And it’s a time at the end of the year to reflect. We reflect on our lives, but most of all, it’s a time to reflect on our values. The holiday season is the one time of the year we can remind ourselves of who we truly are—not just mortal beings made of flesh and blood, but primarily spiritual beings created from Divine love. We get so caught up in the mundane hustle and bustle and stress of the holidays, that we forget the meaning and purpose of the season.
It is a time to renew our understanding that we are one with Spirit, God, Yahweh, Adonai, whatever you are comfortable calling it. So, this holiday season, I challenge you! I challenge you not be become stressed from the busyness or bills or cooking and preparing, or melancholy-ness from Auld Lang Syne, or depressed from lost opportunities or loved ones. For all of this, including loss, is an illusion. The only truth is you are connected to the greatest source and lack nothing! Now is the time to claim that knowledge and in the New year to come, you will see the results!
And if you can say, “I’ve done that already and nothing happened!” then you’ve done it with your powerless mind and not your empowering heart!
