Since the early 70s, metaphysical and New Age followers have been proliferating higher consciousness ideas about mankind’s ascension into the “Fifth Dimension” and the “Age of Aquarius.” Some even philosophize that we are already living in that dimension and that the Age of Aquarius has already begun.
Of course, the 5th Dimension is the name of a famous American pop singing group that made famous the song Aquarius in the early 1970s, and who named themselves and wrote that song because of the New Agers’ fascination with the Age of Aquarius and the fifth dimension.
What is the obsession over this theoretical dimension? Is it real? If so, then how many dimensions are there? Do we “ascend” from one to another? Are we supposed to ascend? How do we know if we have ascended? And if we believe we have, are we just fooling ourselves?
